This 1965 Ford Mustang fastback was built by Ringbrothers between 2004 and 2005 for a friend, with whom it remained until 2014. The car was then acquired by the previous owner, and it was returned to Ringbrothers in 2018 for refinishing and additional modification. Power is provided by 408ci Windsor V8 that was overhauled during the initial build with aluminum cylinder heads. Other equipment installed at that time included a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, 3.55:1 rear end, Baer brakes, and Recaro seats. Modifications added included custom Forgeline wheels, powered rack-and-pinion steering, Integra Racing shocks, a carbon-fiber hood and roof, Ringbrothers billet trim pieces, and a custom media system, and Vintage Air climate control. This modified Mustang is now offered with service records and a clean BC Registration.
The car was delivered new in Rangoon Red and was refinished in blue by Ringbrothers in the early 2000s. During the later Ringbrothers’ build from 2018 to 2019, the car was refinished in its current custom metallic gray. Prior to the more recent work, the roofwas replaced by Ringbrothers with a carbon-fiber panel finished in Duratec Sunshield clearcoat. A carbon-fiber hood with an exposed-look scoop as well as an air dam, grille surround, and sail-panel trim pieces were also fitted. Ringbrothers billet accents added during the refresh include a rear spoiler, door handles, side mirrors, hood and trunk hinges, hood pins, sail-panel fuel caps, cowl vent covers, hood-mounted LED turn signal bezels, air dam-mounted front turn signals, and various hardware pieces. Multi-piece Ringbrothers Forgeline wheels are mounted with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tires. Braking is provided by Baer calipers paired with 13” slotted and cross-drilled rotors, and the suspension system was updated under the previous ownership with Integra Racing coilover shocks all around. A rack-and-pinion power steering setup was fitted in 2016.
Leather-trimmed Recaro bucket seats were added during the initial Ringbrothers build along with matching Mercedes-Benz carpeting. Additional Ringbrothers billet interior accents include a shifter, shift knob, shift-gate bezel, pedal covers, door handles, sill plates, and lock pulls. A Vintage Air Front Runner air-conditioning system was also installed during the refresh, and other amenities include power windows and a tilting steering column. Sound system equipment added include a Kenwood stereo with Apple CarPlay and navigation, six speakers, two 12″ subwoofers, and an amplifier. An NRG steering wheel was added and sits ahead of Stewart-Warner instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer show approximately 4,500 miles, which reflects the amount driven since the early 2000s. Rear seats with headrests and a fold-down back were installed and are equipped with lap belts. The gas struts for the trunk lid were replaced in March 2022.
The Ford Windsor V8 was rebuilt with an increased stroke for a displacement of 408ci and features aluminum cylinder heads. A new 16” SPAL brushless cooling fan was installed in 2019, as were new valve covers from Summit Racing, an Optima blue-top battery, and various gaskets, hoses, and clamps. Holy EFI was recently installed, A new Aeromotive Gen II Stealth 200 fuel tank with an internal pump was also fitted in 2019 along with Teflon-Kevlar fuel lines.
