1953 Mercury M100 1/2 Ton Pickup Streetrod

1953 M100 (Mercury1/2 ton pick-up)
This is a full frame off restoration/ custom resto rod. Frame was cut 24 inches in the middle section due to older existing poorly done repairs and refabricated. Boxed as required and a new front suspension added. New not junkyard speedway Mustang II independent c/w tubular A Arms, all new nylon bushings/ power rack and pinion steering, disc brakes. Rear end is a rebuilt ford 8.8 with posi traction and disc brakes totally refurbished/ brackets fabricated for rear “Posies” super-slide springs. New shock mounts incorporated. 2” Dual exhaust to rear bumper. Stainless tips, Mild street cam Ford 302 / electronic ignition/ Holley 600 on Edelbrock performer manifold. Polished stainless headers/ Polished ford motorsport valve covers and chrome bits throughout. New aluminium radiator/w electric fan ( has never run hot!) All new (speedway kit) wiring and gauges. Heater is rebuilt stock/ never used. Trans is a rebuilt Ford C-6 with a shift kit /new trans mount fabricated on frame. Custom drive shaft to fit/ new shocks throughout. All new fasteners for body panels with nylocks as required. Wheels are polished Torque Thrust II 8 x15 with new staggered rubber. All body panels are original steel with the exception a replacement front box panel. Tailgate is constructed from original lettering welded into a F- 100 gate. Box wood is special “quarter cut” old growth fir with one off aluminium spacers. Cab has door vent windows removed and custom glass (curved) installed with power window assist. Front and rear tinted windows are new. Seat is leather while door panels are black vinyl. Cab is totally insulated with “Dynamat” sound and heat insulation. Front tilt hood by ‘‘no limit engineering”.
Paint is base clear/ two tone stock Ford colours “Ruby Red and Ingot Silver” Bumper brackets shortened.
Battery and power brake/ reservoir under floor/ new fuel tank/ many hours expended/ about 5000 miles to date. This is a very nice ride.
